Cloud Air Water: A Modern Office Design Inspired by Nature

Bringing the Flow of Water and Air into the Workspace

The design concept of "the flow of water" and "the accumulation of air" repeats in the project to express the idea of the fundamental and perpetual cycle in nature visually. The connotation of "cloud, air, and water" sums up the design concept and interprets the cycle of "the sublimation of water into air, the accumulation of air into cloud, the condensation of cloud into water, and the return of water to the earth". The concept of flow dominates the design of the big open office space.

The Cloud Air Water office design, created by Li Yu Chen and Lin Pao Wong from CDC, CYCU, is a unique and innovative approach to creating a modern workspace. Inspired by the natural elements of water and air, the design aims to bring a sense of flow and harmony into the office environment.

One of the standout features of the design is the pentagonal stereoscopic ceiling, which is connected but in independent shapes, symbolizing the clouds in the sky. This design element not only adds visual interest to the space but also creates a sense of movement and dynamism. The lightning grille that links with the clouds ceiling responds to the contrasting lines on the floor, cohesively directing the flow in the space and visually symbolizing the rapid flow of the office.

The concept of "flow" in nature echoes with the flow of high efficiency of office activities, which gathers people together to bring out positive circulation, symbolizing a perpetual cycle. By metaphorically applying natural forces to cast the characteristics of Internet connection, the design fully depicts the characteristics and images of the network technology industry in a modern office space.

In terms of materials, the designers have carefully selected woven carpets, stainless steel pieces, glass, environmentally friendly wood grain plywood, and marble. These materials, along with delicate touches such as the Carrara visual wall in the VIP space and a diamond-cut modeling bar counter, create a noble and exquisite atmosphere. The combination of western-style recreational sofas and oriental furniture reflects an imposing atmosphere and an understated temperament, bringing out a cultural aura for the enterprise.

The main entrance of the office is located in the middle of the project, with the reception counter dividing the space into two blocks: the open space and the private space. The large open office area promotes team connection and interaction, while the staff rest area and the VIP reception room provide a sense of privacy and tranquility. The department heads' office area, arranged behind the reception counter, exudes a sense of authority and privacy.

The Cloud Air Water office design, completed in 2019, is located in a high-floor office building in the commercial and business district of Taipei. It is a testament to the designers' ability to create a space that promotes high interaction, teamwork, and a sense of cohesion while maintaining the aesthetics and functionality of a modern office.

This exceptional design has been recognized with the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2021. The award highlights the outstanding creativity and ingenuity of the design, which incorporates best practices in art, science, design, and technology. The Cloud Air Water office design not only enhances the productivity and efficiency of its users but also contributes to the overall quality of life in the workplace.
